Super Eagles and Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is closing in on a move to Italian side AC MIlan, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Rossoneri have agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old striker, with a loan move plus option to buy agreement in place with Leverkusen, all subject to a medical success.

However, it appears Boniface's move to Italy has raised questions and could now be in doubt upon further checks. The Nigerian striker arrived in Milan yesterday in a bid to complete his move to Italy.

While there are no concerns about the footballing ability of the Nigerian forward, it appears there's an issue with his right knee, considering he's torn his cruciate ligament twice.

AC Milan identified some issues during the medical exams with Boniface, and it was confirmed that his right knee is not fully fit.

What Milan's director said about Boniface

Milan's Sporting Director, Igli Tare, has now revealed that the medical checks are complete, but the decision to finalise the deal will be made soon.

⚠️ AC Milan director Igli Tare: “We are checking Victor Boniface medical. His football skills are excellent but we need to take the right decision”.

“We are checking Victor Boniface's medical. His football skills are excellent, but we need to make the right decision,” the Albanian said in quotes revealed by Football Italia.

“We will make a final decision soon on his medical, also with our coach, Max Allegri.  We were aware of past issues and are conducting all necessary assessments regarding the player's health.

“His qualities are unquestionable. We are trying to make the right decision in this situation.”

“Obviously, soon the transfer deadline will be coming up. We’re not putting pressure on ourselves with a deadline,” the 52-year-old concluded.

Milan may seek to renegotiate the terms of the agreement with Leverkusen to minimise their risk, considering Boniface's injury record

They could consider asking Bayer Leverkusen to lower the loan fee, so the player can achieve his dream of playing in the Italian league without returning to the Bay Arena, where he's no longer the first-choice striker.
