Nigerian transfers 2025: Full list of Super Eagles players who have moved or signed new deals

As clubs globally look to strengthen their squads for next season, Super Eagles players have been making significant moves this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

There's been a lot of talk about potential transfers for Super Eagles players. Some of those rumors have turned into confirmed moves, and others are still developing.

In this piece, Soccernet.ng dives into transfers involving Super Eagles players that have happened this summer.

Moses Simon transfer (Nantes to Paris FC)

Moses Simon is one of the Super Eagles stars who get their future sorted really early. After six impresssive years at Nantes, it was clear that he was going to leave the Yellow Canaries this summer.

He was initially linked with clubs like Olympique Marseille, Everton, Leeds United, and the Saudi Arabian Pro League. However, he moved to newly-promoted Ligue 1 club Paris FC instead. The Super Eagles star signed a three year deal, and the transfer cost Paris FC €7 million. Read More.

Frank Onyeka transfer (FC Augsburg to Brentford)

Frank Onyeka spent last season on loan at German Bundesliga club Augsburg. But despite an impressive stint that saw him become an important player for the club, Augsburg refused to sign him.

Onyeka has now returned to Brentford. But his future still hangs in the balance, as it is unknown if new coach Keith Andrews wants him at the club. Nonetheless, more should come from that in the coming days.

Bright Osayi-Samuel transfer (Fenerbahce to Birmingham City)

Bright Osayi-Samuel's contract at Fenerbahce expired at the end of last season, despite several attempts by the club to get him to sign a new deal.

Osayi-Samuel was linked to several clubs in Turkey, including Besiktas, but it did not work out. Eventually, the Super Eagles star made a shock switch to newly-promoted English Championship club Birmingham City. He will look to play an important role in their push for Premier League football next season. Read more.

Semi Ajayi transfer (West Brom to Hull City)

Semi Ajayi's contract at West Brom expired at the end of last season, bringing his six-year stay at the club to an end.

He didn't stay long without a clubs though, as soon after, he joined Hull City, signing a two-year contract. Read more.

Kelechi Iheanacho transfer (Middlesbrough to Sevilla)

Kelechi joined Sevilla last summer in a free transfer, but he failed to cut it there and had to move to English Championship club Middlesbrough on loan in January. There, he contributed one goal and two assists in 15 appearances.

However, he did not impress much there and the club did not sign him permanently. Iheanacho is now back at Sevilla, but he will likely make a move soon, as he is not wanted at the club.

Sadiq Umar transfer (Valencia to Real Sociedad)

Sadiq Umar joined Valencia from Real Sociedad in a six-month loan transfer in January. This came as he struggled to deliver on the pitch, especially since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament two seasons ago.

However, at Valencia, he rediscovered his form, contributing six goals in 19 appearances. Sadiq looked quite good at Valencia, and it was expected that the club would sign him permanently.

But at the end of the season, they let the Super Eagles star return to Real Sociedad. Read More.

Benjamin Tanimu transfer (Crawley Town to Mahgreb Fez)

Benjamin Tanimu rose to prominence last year, when then-coach Finidi George called up him to the Super Eagles squad. He was at Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars at the time.

Nonetheless, he joined English League One club Crawley Town last year. But he did not play much. Then, earlier this month, the 22-year-old midfielder completed a transfer to Moroccan club Mahgreb Fez. Read More.

Adebayo Adeleye transfer (EN Paralimniou to Volos)

Adebayo Adeleye spent last season at Cypriot club EN Paralimniou, and he was one of the best players on the team.

However, he chose to leave at the expiration of his contract there and joined Greek Super League club Volos, where he signed a two-year deal. Adeleye has one cap for the Super Eagles.

Jordan Torunarigha transfer (Gent to Hamburger)

Jordan Torunarigha joined newly-promoted Bundesliga club Hamburger earlier this month.

He spent three years at his former club KAA Gent, bhe had been pushing for a transfer since last sumer. Unfortunately, for him, they refused to let him leave.

So he refused to sign a contract extension and ended up moving to Hoffenheim in a free transfer. Torunarigha has one cap for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Kenneth Omeruo transfer (Free Agent to CFR Cluj)

Kenneth Omeruo joined CFR Cluj as a free agent earlier this month. The former Chelsea man was a a free agent since terminating his contract at Turkish club Kasimpasa in January this year.

However, he had to wait until this summer before joining another club due to injury. Omeruo signed a two-year contract with his new employers CFR Cluj.

Godwin Saviour transfer (Al Okhdood to FC Baniyas)

Godwin Saviour got his Super Eagles debut in 2022, while Jose Peseiro was still the coach of the team. He was at Casa Pia at the time.

However, the 28-year-old forward, who turns 29 in August, has since left Europe for the Middle East. Godwin joined Saudi Arabian club Al Okhdood two years ago and was an important member of the team, contributing 13 goals and five assists in 59 games.

This summer he has moved again. This time, to UAE club Baniyas FC in a free transfer, as his contract at Al Okhdood expired at the end of last season. The duration of his contract is unconfirmed at the time of publishing.

Henry Onyekuru (Free transfer to Genclerbirligi)

Henry Onyekuru spent the last two years at Saudi Arabian club Al Feyha. But he fell out of favour at the club last season and left at the expiration of his contract.

Onyekuru was linked to multiple clubs in Turkey, but he ultimately chose to join newly-promoted club Genclerbirligi. He will now play alongside compatriot Oghenekaro Etebo.

Chidozie Awaziem transfer (Colorado Rapids to Nantes)

Chidozie Awaziem has been a journeyman throughout his career. He moved to the US Major League Soccer last year, and he already signed for two clubs.

After a decent season with the Rapids, there were talks that Nantes wanted Awaziem. The transfer did not take long to process, as the Ligue 1 club announced his signing on Wednesday. It will be his second stint at the club, and he signed a three-year deal.

Papa Daniel Mustapha transfer (Niger Tornadoes to Cejle)

Papa Daniel Mustapha is one of the players who got his Super Eagles debut under the leadership of Eric Chelle.

The 23-year-old midfielder spent last season at Nigeria Tornadoes. Then, news broke two months ago that he was on the brink of a transfer to Young Boys Bern.

However, on Wednesday, it was confirmed that he had sealed a transfer to Slovenian club Cejle.
