Super Eagles hopeful Joseph Arumala has completed a move from Ikorodu City to Egyptian Premier League club Ittihad Alexandria, Soccernet.ng reports.
Arumala's transfer gives the Nigerian winger a new stage after a strong first season in the NPFL.
Ikorodu City announced the move on its official X account on Tuesday. Transfermarkt also lists the 22-year-old as an Ittihad Alexandria player from 2026. The club is based in Alexandria and plays in Egypt's top division.
A new chapter after Super Eagles Chelle's interest
Arumala leaves Ikorodu City after scoring 13 goals in the 2025-26 NPFL season. He finished behind joint top scorers Godwin Obaje, Victor Mbaoma and Jonathan Mairiga, who each scored 14.
His form also brought him to the attention of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle. Chelle watched Ikorodu City's 3-1 win over Wikki Tourists at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on May 5. Arumala scored a 41st-minute penalty in that match.
Chelle's scouting trip reportedly led to Arumala, goalkeeper Michael Atata and midfielder Tosin Oyedokun being included in Nigeria's provisional squad plans for the 2026 Unity Cup.

The move to Egypt could now give Arumala regular experience outside Nigeria. He joins Ittihad Alexandria as a left winger, with Transfermarkt listing his market value at €250,000.
Arumala joined Ikorodu City in August 2025 and quickly became one of the NPFL's most productive attackers. He scored 12 goals in his first 30 league appearances and added two assists before finishing the campaign with 13 goals.
His next challenge is to reproduce that output in Egypt. Strong performances at Ittihad could also strengthen his case for a future Super Eagles call-up under Chelle.
