Karim Adeyemi is edging closer to a move to Spanish champions Barcelona, with the Borussia Dortmund forward now very close to completing the transfer, Soccernet.ng reports.
The attacker of Nigerian-descent joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 and has established himself as one of the club's standout performers since his arrival. He won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award during the 2022-23 campaign and has continued to play a key role for the German side.
The 24-year-old has made 146 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund, including 28 Bundesliga outings last season as the club finished second behind champions Bayern Munich. He also helped Dortmund reach the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League final, where they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.
Adeyemi's contract is due to expire next summer and he has entered the final year of his deal this month. His reluctance to sign a contract extension has fueled speculation over his future, with several top European clubs monitoring his situation.

Barcelona are now close to completing a deal for Adeyemi after the winger opted against renewing his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
The La Liga champions are keen to strengthen their attacking options as they continue their bid to reclaim European glory after failing to win the UEFA Champions League since 2015. The club also want greater squad depth to cope with injuries after being stretched in recent seasons.
Speaking exclusively to Soccernet.ng, a source close to the player confirmed that Borussia Dortmund have accepted the idea of the transfer and that only one key issue remains before the move is completed.
“BVB is now on board. What is left is the salary agreement. 90% close”, Soccernet.ng was told.
Barcelona have already signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and are now looking to make Adeyemi their second major signing of the summer transfer window.
The German forward is currently valued at around €40 million according to Transfermarkt and the deal is expected to be completed for a fee in that region, becoming the latest player of Nigerian descent to represent Barcelona, with a full agreement expected in the coming days.
