Flying Eagles winger Tahir Maigana has completed a permanent move to Hungarian side Zalaegerszegi TE from Abuja-based Football Academy FC Wireless, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 18-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the option of a further year, marking his first move to European football after emerging as one of Nigeria's brightest young prospects, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Brighton's Zadok Yohanna.
Maigana caught the eye with a series of impressive performances for the Flying Eagles over the past year. He played a key role in Nigeria's third-place finish at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations before representing the country at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

His displays at youth international level attracted interest from abroad, with Zalaegerszegi TE moving swiftly to secure his signature.
Speaking after completing the transfer, the teenager expressed his delight at joining the Hungarian club and revealed he had already been impressed by his new surroundings.

“The first thing that stood out to me was the kindness of the people living here and the people working at the club,” Maigana told the club's official website as revealed by Tribal Football.
“I can already see that this is a very calm, peaceful city where a player can focus exclusively on football.
“I would like to show on the pitch all the qualities that the club management has given me confidence in. I want to prove it.
“I have only heard good things about the team and the conditions, and since my arrival I can confirm that all this is true.”

Maigana's move continues the growing trend of talented Nigerian youngsters earning opportunities in European football after impressing at international youth tournaments.
The winger will now be hoping to establish himself in Hungary and continue his development as he targets a future breakthrough into the Super Eagles.
