Super Eagles talisman Victor Osimhen took the Turkish Super Lig by storm by scoring 26 goals and providing 5 assists in 30 league appearances for Galatasaray…

Trailblazing Nigerian footballer who became the first from the country to feature in the Turkish Super Lig, Dominic Iorfa, has weighed in on Victor Osimhen's transfer report. Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Royal Antwerp star voiced his support for Victor Osimhen’s decision to continue his career with Galatasaray, and also dismissed criticisms that the move is a step down.

Osimhen, who spent the 2024–25 season on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has enjoyed an outstanding campaign in Turkey.

The Super Eagles star fired the Yellow-Reds to a domestic double, scoring 26 goals and providing 5 assists in 30 league appearances, finishing as the top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig.

“There’s so much that goes into transfers these days, and Osimhen is clearly in the middle of it all,” Iorfa told Footy Africa. “People expected him to move to England or perhaps stay in Italy. I know Juventus wanted him, but Napoli weren’t keen on selling to a local rival.”

Osimhen had been heavily linked with Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United earlier in the year.

However, Liverpool have shifted their focus to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak in a reported £120 million bid, which further dampens Osimhen’s chances of securing his long-anticipated move to England.

Despite his belief that Osimhen belongs among Europe’s elite, Iorfa remains confident that the 26-year-old can continue to thrive in Turkey.

“He’s already proved he can do it there. The fans love him, and he enjoys the atmosphere. That connection matters a lot,” Iorfa said.

The former Galatasaray striker also rejected the notion that remaining in Turkey would affect Osimhen’s status or international reputation.

“Look at Ronaldo, Messi, and others,” Iorfa added. “Many great players are performing in so-called lesser leagues and still representing their national teams. Osimhen staying in Turkey doesn’t diminish his quality or value.”

While a Premier League move may still be a long-term ambition, Osimhen’s decision to remain at Galatasaray has received strong support from the Nigerian football community, many of whom are eager to see him leave Napoli following the club’s controversial treatment of their countryman.
