Nigeria international Michelle Alozie has become an avowed supporter of Mamelodi Sundowns following the club’s spirited performance in their 4-3 loss to Borussia Dortmund at the FIFA Club World Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sundowns, South Africa’s most successful football club, may have suffered defeat in their second Group F match at the expanded global tournament, but they left a lasting impression — especially on Alozie, who couldn't help but praise their bold attacking display.
The South African champions took the lead early on through Lucas Ribeiro but found themselves on the receiving end of four unanswered goals from the German giants.
Despite the odds, Sundowns refused to roll over. A brave comeback saw them score twice in the second half, including a dramatic 90th-minute strike that almost sparked a sensational turnaround.

Nigeria’s Alozie in love with South Africa’s Sundowns
Their refusal to surrender did not go unnoticed. Alozie, a key member of Nigeria’s Super Falcons squad preparing to challenge for a tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, publicly declared her admiration for the Brazilians.
“Sundowns fc got a new fan! #FIFACWC,” she posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Sundowns quickly welcomed her into their fanbase, responding warmly:
“Welcome to the Yellow Nation.”
While Alozie has now pledged her club support to Sundowns, there will be no room for sentiment when Nigeria face South Africa in the upcoming WAFCON in Morocco.
The rivalry between both nations remains one of the fiercest in African football. South Africa, the reigning champions, are looking to defend the title they won for the first time in 2022, while the Super Falcons aim to reclaim continental supremacy.
