Manchester United target Arokodare gives green light to Red Devils

Super Eagles and KRC Genk striker, Emmanuel Toluwalase Arokodare, has given Manchester United a green light for a summer transfer following their interest in him, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old was the third-highest goalscoring Nigerian footballer in the 2024/2025 season, home and abroad, scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists in 45 club appearances for Thorsten Fink's side.

Arokodare won the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot and has been tipped to leave the club this summer, amidst interest from Turkey and Germany, with Genk President, Peter Croonen, claiming the lanky striker won't leave cheap.

As per Caught Offside, Arokodare is being considered as an option for Ruben Amorim's side if they fail to secure their more expensive top targets like Victor Osimhen, Dusan Vlahovic and Jonathan David.

Arokodare, who previously stated his dream transfer would be to Real Madrid, has cleared the air about a potential move to the English Premier League, specifically Manchester United.

In an interview with SportsBoom, the former FC Koln striker revealed he's always been a fan of the Red Devils, and wouldn't be averse to joining the three-time UEFA Champions League winners.

“Obviously, it's a dream to play in the Premier League, but I have my eyes on it for sure. Whatever options I have, I'll take my time and make the best decision.

“I'm a Manchester United fan, and if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family,” the ex-Amiens SC striker said.

Should Arokodare join Manchester United?

A move to Manchester United signifies all things bigger and better for the 1.97m striker. He'll earn higher wages, play in one of the best leagues in the world, and also for one of the teams with a rich history in England.

However, with big moves come big responsibilities. In the past decade, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and even the Great Cristiano Ronaldo have seen the tides turn against them at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo had great first seasons, but their second stints didn't match up, and it didn't take time for the fans to turn against them.

A move to United would require Arokodare to consistently churn out goals and ignore the boos, and the booze in Manchester to stay at the top of the game, requiring a strong mental fortitutude.

In the 2024/2025 campaign, Ruben Amorim's side managed to score just 44 league goals, with the trio of Hojlund, Zikzee and Garnacho combining for just 13 of those goals, a number Arokodare nearly doubled.

Considering the quality of the attackers United currently boast, Arokodare would be an undoubted starter at Old Trafford. With Genk's asking price at €23m, and the player's wages being a comfortable one, United will have gold on their hands if they secure the services of the Nigerian star.

In the meantime, the striker is enjoying his summer holiday in Lagos and could be set to return to Belgium soon ahead of Genk's pre-season preparations if a move doesn't happen soon.
