Genk issue transfer warning: Bayern-linked Arokodare won’t leave for Onuachu money

KRC Genk president Peter Croonen has made it clear that the club will not allow Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare to leave unless a significant offer is tabled, Soccernet.ng reports.

Arokodare, who helped Nigeria win the 2025 Unity Cup and ended the season strongly in Belgium, has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

However, Croonen insists Genk will not sanction a cut-price sale for the former FC Köln player, who has recently emerged as a target for Bundesliga reigning champions Bayern Munich.

It would be recalled that Paul Onuachu, who was replaced by Arokodare at Genk, joined Premier League outfit Southampton for a fee in the region of 18 million euros during the January 2023 window.

When asked if the striker could command a fee similar to what Southampton paid for Onuachu in 2023, the Genk boss replied that the club wants more.

“An amount like with Onuachu? Let me say that I don't want to say much about that, but we want much more,” Croonen said, as quoted by Voetbalprimeur.

The Genk chief admitted that selling players remains a financial necessity for the club but stressed that the Belgian side are in a strong position to dictate terms.

“There is always pressure to sell, in every football club that wants to function autonomously,” he noted.

With Genk having secured a spot in European competition next season, the club is under no immediate pressure to cash in on Arokodare.

“With a European ticket there is more play, but of course we have our own reserves. As a result, we can decide when we sell,” Croonen concluded.

Arokodare has piqued the interest of many European clubs in recent months, and while a summer exit appears inevitable, Genk are determined to cash in big on the striker—just like they did with Onuachu.
