AC Milan had 25 goal attempts, but they failed to rattle the net
Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze made his UEFA Champions League for AC Milan in their 0-0 stalemate against Newcastle United, Soccernet reports.
Chukwueze had the rare opportunity to start for AC Milan when they welcomed Premier League money bags Newcastle United to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.
The Rossoneri were the slight favourites to win because of their Champions League experience, and they lived up to the billing.
They were all over Newcastle United from the blast of the whistle. Chukwueze was heavily involved, running the show from the right side of AC Milan’s attack, while Rafael Leao was on the left.
Chukwueze had a great opportunity early on after he cut in from the wings. However, his strike was saved by Nick Pope. He had another opportunity to score in the 38th minute after a ball was swung into his box. But his header was just wide off the mark.
After 60 minutes of action, coach Stefano Pioli substituted the Super Eagles forward for Christian Pulisic in a bid to add some bite to the attack. However, it did not change much as it still ended goalless in Italy.
AC Milan registered 25 goal attempts compared to Newcastle United’s six. But they did nothing with all their chances.
