Osimhen and Martinez were the first and second best goalscorers in the Serie A last season
Inter Milan legend Beppe Bergomi has asserted that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is better than Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen has proven to be one of the most lethal strikers in world football in recent years. His perfect blend of pace, precision and power has made facing him to be a nightmare for most defenders.
Last season, he struck 31 times in 39 appearances for Napoli across all competitions. His haul of 26 goals in the Serie A ensured that he became the first African player to win the Capocannoniere.
Osimhen had serious competition with Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez, who scored 21 goals last season.
This season, both players have resumed with the same intensity. Osimhen and Martinez have scored three goals each in the first two game weeks of the Serie A. Also, Napoli and Inter Milan have not dropped points.
Former Inter Milan defender Bergomi, who spent 12 years with Inter Milan, has been impressed by Martinez’s consistency, but he believes Osimhen is the better striker.
“Lautaro has achieved enviable continuity at Inter Milan. After Osimhen, he is the best in the Serie A,” Bergomi said per Napoli Magazine.
Barring any injuries, Osimhen and Lautaro are frontrunners for the Capocannoniere. However, they may face competition from Vlahovic and Immobile.
Osimhen is clearly the best. He is also younger than Martinez
