Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho could be set for a fresh challenge in Turkey after emerging as a transfer target for ambitious club Bursaspor, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigeria international is now available on a free transfer following the end of his stay at Scottish champions Celtic, and reports from Turkey say talks have already started over a possible move.
A report from Turkish outlet Olay claims that Bursaspor have made close contact with Iheanacho as they search for a proven striker ahead of the new season. The 29-year-old became a free agent after Celtic decided not to activate the 12-month extension in his contract before the deadline.
Club president Enes Çelik confirmed that Bursaspor are carefully looking at different attacking options before making a final decision. He explained that the club will not rush into signing a striker and hopes to complete its plans after the team's training camp in Bolu.

Although discussions have begun, no agreement has been reached. Iheanacho is taking his time before deciding on his next club because he has attracted interest from several countries.
The former Manchester City and Leicester City forward has also been linked with Brazilian club Vasco da Gama, while other European teams are said to have offered him attractive financial packages.
Iheanacho: Strong season despite injury setbacks
Even though injuries interrupted parts of his campaign, Iheanacho still made a big impact during his single season at Celtic under manager Martin O'Neill.
He played 13 matches in all competitions and scored seven goals. Five came in the Scottish Premiership, while he also found the net in the UEFA Europa League and Scottish Cup.

His biggest moments came towards the end of the season. He scored important winning goals against Hibernian and Motherwell as Celtic stayed on course to win the Scottish Premiership title. He also came off the bench in the Scottish Cup final to score a brilliant solo goal that helped Celtic beat Dunfermline 3-1 and lift another trophy.
Despite those important performances, Celtic decided not to keep him because of concerns over his fitness record, leaving the Nigerian striker free to negotiate with other clubs.
Super Eagles star considers next move
Iheanacho, who has scored 15 goals for the Super Eagles since making his senior debut, remains one of Nigeria's most experienced attackers in Europe. His club career has also included spells with Manchester City, Leicester City, Sevilla and Celtic.

He is currently training on his own in Nigeria while considering the offers on his table. Staying in Europe remains a possibility, but interest from Turkey and Brazil gives him different options as he plans the next stage of his career.
Iheanacho may not be too keen on switching to Bursaspor, though, as the club only gained promotion to the TFF 1. Lig during the just-concluded campaign.
With compatriots Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme all impressing in the Super Lig, Iheanacho will be confident he can still perform at that level.
The coming weeks are expected to be important as Iheanacho decides whether Turkey, Brazil or another destination will become the next stop in his career.
