The Super Eagles remain one of Africa's most successful teams in FIFA World Cup history, Soccernet.ng reports.

Since making their tournament debut at the 1994 World Cup in the United States, Nigeria have produced many great players and recorded six victories across six appearances at football's biggest competition.

Those wins helped the country reach the Round of 16 on three occasions; in 1994, 1998 and 2014. Along the way, Nigeria produced unforgettable moments, from Rashidi Yekini's famous celebration against Bulgaria to Sunday Oliseh's thunderous winner against Spain and Ahmed Musa's brilliance against Iceland.

Here is a ranking of Nigeria's six World Cup victories, beginning with the least significant and ending with the most iconic.

6. Nigeria's Super Eagles 2-0 Greece (1994 World Cup)

Nigeria entered their second Group D match in Boston after stunning Bulgaria 3-0 in their World Cup debut. Against a Greece side also appearing at their first World Cup, the Super Eagles quickly took control.

Finidi George opened the scoring before Daniel Amokachi added a second goal to complete a comfortable victory. The result secured Nigeria's place in the knockout stage and strengthened their grip on top spot in the group.

While historically important because it confirmed Nigeria's first-ever Round of 16 qualification, Greece struggled throughout the tournament, losing all three matches and failing to score a single goal. Compared to Nigeria's other World Cup victories, this was their most routine success.

5. Nigeria 1-0 Bulgaria (1998 World Cup)

Four years after humiliating Bulgaria in the United States, Nigeria met the Eastern Europeans again at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.

The Bulgarians still had legendary captain Hristo Stoichkov, but they were no longer the force that had reached the 1994 World Cup semi-finals.

Victor Ikpeba scored the decisive goal in the first half as Nigeria secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory. The win gave the Super Eagles six points from two matches and guaranteed qualification for the Round of 16 before their final group game.

It was a disciplined and effective performance, but it lacked the drama and wider significance of some of Nigeria's other World Cup triumphs.

4. Nigeria 1-0 Bosnia and Herzegovina (2014 World Cup)

The pressure on Stephen Keshi's team was enormous when they faced Bosnia and Herzegovina in Cuiabá.

Nigeria had not won a World Cup match since defeating Bulgaria in 1998. The Super Eagles had gone nine World Cup games without victory across the 2002, 2010 and 2014 tournaments.

Peter Odemwingie ended that painful run in the 29th minute when he converted Emmanuel Emenike's excellent cross. Bosnia pushed for an equaliser through stars such as Edin Džeko and Miralem Pjanić, but Nigeria defended resolutely.

The victory ultimately proved decisive. Nigeria finished ahead of Bosnia in Group F and advanced to the knockout stage for the first time in 16 years.

3. Nigeria 2-0 Iceland (2018 World Cup)

After losing 2-0 to Croatia in their opening match in Russia, Nigeria knew defeat against Iceland would end their World Cup campaign.

The Icelanders had become one of European football's most admired underdog stories after reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 and holding Argentina to a draw in their first group match.

With the pressure mounting, Ahmed Musa produced one of the greatest individual performances by a Nigerian player at the World Cup.

The forward opened the scoring shortly after halftime with a brilliant first-time finish from Victor Moses' cross. He then produced an even better second goal, sprinting through the Iceland defence before calmly rounding goalkeeper Hannes Halldórsson.

Musa's double revived Nigeria's hopes of reaching another Round of 16 and cemented his place as the country's leading World Cup goalscorer.

2. Nigeria 3-0 Bulgaria (1994 World Cup)

Few teams have enjoyed a better World Cup debut than Nigeria. Facing a Bulgaria side led by Ballon d'Or winner Hristo Stoichkov at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the Super Eagles announced themselves on the global stage in spectacular fashion.

Rashidi Yekini scored Nigeria's first-ever World Cup goal and celebrated by grabbing the back of the net in one of football's most memorable images. Daniel Amokachi doubled the lead before Emmanuel Amuneke completed the rout.

The significance of that result became even clearer as the tournament progressed. Bulgaria recovered from the defeat and went on to reach the semi-finals, defeating reigning champions Germany and powerhouse Argentina along the way.

For a World Cup debutant to beat such a strong side 3-0 remains one of the finest performances in African football history.

1. Nigeria 3-2 Spain (1998 World Cup)

No Nigerian World Cup victory matches the drama, quality and significance of the famous win over Spain at Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.

Spain arrived in France as one of the favourites to win the tournament. Their squad included stars such as Raúl, Fernando Hierro and Luis Enrique, while they carried a lengthy unbeaten run into the competition.

The Spaniards twice took the lead, but the Super Eagles refused to surrender. Mutiu Adepoju equalised after Spain's opening goal before an own goal involving goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta brought the Super Eagles level again.

With the match tied at 2-2 and heading towards a draw, Sunday Oliseh unleashed a stunning long-range strike from outside the penalty area. The ball flew past Zubizarreta and into the corner of the net, sparking wild celebrations among Nigerian supporters.

The victory stunned the football world, damaged Spain's tournament hopes, earned Austin Okocha an award 28 years later, and remains one of the greatest upsets in FIFA World Cup history.

More than two decades later, Oliseh's winner still stands as the defining goal of Nigeria's golden generation and the greatest World Cup victory the Super Eagles have ever recorded.
