UEFA, Europe’s football governing body, is producing a full-length documentary on Nigeria and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, one of Africa’s most prolific goal scorers in modern football, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to reports from Turkey, UEFA has commissioned a dedicated film crew to follow Osimhen as part of an exclusive feature that celebrates his meteoric rise from the streets of Lagos to global stardom.
The documentary, already in production, is expected to be unveiled later this year or early next year.
Osimhen, 26, has become one of the continent’s most iconic footballers, combining raw talent and work ethic, qualities that make him a perfect subject for UEFA’s next big football portrait.
Last week, UEFA used Osimhen’s image to promote the latest round of Champions League fixtures. The Nigerian duly justified the honour, scoring a sensational hat-trick in Galatasaray’s emphatic 3-0 away victory over Ajax in Amsterdam.
The former Napoli man is now the leading goalscorer in this season’s Champions League, with his six goals better than the five managed by Man City's Erling Haaland, Bayern Munich's Harry Kane and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe.

Victor Osimhen: From Lagos streets to Europe’s grandest stages
If UEFA decides to trace Osimhen’s story beyond club football, the documentary could unfold as one of the most inspiring rags-to-riches tales in world sport.
Osimhen first announced himself on the global stage in 2015, when he scored a record ten goals to lead Nigeria to victory at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile. From a boy who once sold bottled water in the streets of Lagos, he became a national hero and one of Africa’s brightest prospects.
His European adventure began at Wolfsburg in Germany before a breakout spell at Royal Charleroi in Belgium, where his sharp movement and lethal finishing attracted interest from across Europe. A subsequent move to Lille in France saw him win the Marc-Vivien Foé Award for the best African footballer in Ligue 1, the same season his goals carried Lille back into continental competition.
Napoli was next, and there Osimhen reached new heights. In the 2022/23 season, he powered the club to their first Serie A title in more than 30 years, finishing as the league’s top scorer. He became the first African ever to claim the Capocannoniere award. His name became synonymous with Napoli’s renaissance and their fearless attacking style.

Osimhen’s first goal in the Champions League came back in 2019 with Lille against Chelsea, while his first Europa League strikes were for Napoli against Leicester City in 2021.
