Nigeria Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is closely monitoring Slavia Prague midfielder David Moses ahead of next month’s decisive international fixtures, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to reliable football insider Rudy Galetti, a first Super Eagles call-up for David Moses is firmly under consideration by the national team handlers.
The 21-year-old has caught the eye with his confident displays in the Czech Republic and, most recently, a standout performance against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League.
His ability to dictate play from midfield and maintain composure under pressure impressed both club scouts and Nigeria’s technical team.
Chelle, who is expected to name his squad for the CAF African play-off clash with Gabon on November 13, is said to be giving Moses ‘serious consideration.' “I wouldn’t say role models, but I like the style of some players,” Moses explained.
“For example, Moses Simon, the winger for French club Nantes (now at Paris FC). Even though we play in different positions, I like the passion he plays with.”
Simon, one of Nigeria’s most consistent performers in Ligue 1 and a mainstay for the national team, clearly struck a chord with the young midfielder. It’s the winger’s hunger and intensity that Moses says he tries to mirror in his own game.
When asked whether he identified more with Messi or Ronaldo, Moses gave a refreshingly honest answer:
“Actually, neither. I respect both, but when I scored goals or did something, I was Neymar.”
