Bayelsa Queens continued their dominant march in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers with a commanding 4-1 victory over Benin Republic’s Sam Nelly on Saturday evening in Yamoussoukro, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian champions, already assured of a semi-final spot, made it three wins from three in the group stage, to underline their status as the most consistent side in the competition.

Seimeyeha Akekoromowei was the star of the show, scoring twice in a Player of the Match performance.

The forward opened the scoring in the 14th minute with her first goal of the tournament before Nigeria U17 international Shakirat Moshood doubled the lead in the 35th minute, netting her third of the campaign.

Sam Nelly briefly threatened a comeback when Nigerian forward Kalu Favour pulled one back for the Beninese side just before the interval.

But the Prosperity Girls responded swiftly after the restart. Alaba Olabiyi restored their two-goal cushion in the 55th minute, before Akekoromowei struck again four minutes later to complete her brace and seal a convincing victory.

Bayelsa Queens have now scored nine goals across three matches, having beaten Ghana’s Police Ladies 2-1 in their opener and swept aside Togo’s ASKO FC 3-0 on matchday two.

The win leaves the reigning NWFL winners top of Group B with a maximum nine points.

Meanwhile, in the other group fixture, Ghana’s Police Ladies defeated Togo’s ASKO to claim second place with six points, ensuring their progression to the semi-finals.

The results set up two intriguing semi-final clashes.

Bayelsa Queens will face Burkina Faso’s USFA, who finished second in Group A, while hosts ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire will battle Ghana’s Police Ladies for a place in the final.

Bayelsa’s dominance was capped by Akekoromowei’s sparkling display, her two goals and tireless attacking play making her the clear standout on the night.

The Prosperity Girls now turn their focus to Wednesday’s semi-final, determined to reach the finals in the regional qualifiers in their second participation.
