Super Eagles full-back Zaidu Sanusi has been given a fresh chance to revive his career at FC Porto under new manager Francesco Farioli, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international has been named among the 29 players set to participate in the club’s pre-season training camp, according to Bolanarede.

Sanusi, 28, endured a frustrating time on the sidelines last season due to a long-term injury, managing just three appearances during the 2024–25 campaign and only five in the previous season.

With speculation linking him to a potential move away — including interest from English side Leeds United — the defender’s inclusion in Farioli’s plans comes as a timely boost.

Farioli, who took over the reins at Porto this summer, has opted to exclude four players from his pre-season squad: Samuel Portugal, Fábio Cardoso, Romário Baró, and André Franco — all now free to seek moves elsewhere.

By contrast, Sanusi’s inclusion signals the manager's willingness to assess the left-back up close, giving him an opportunity to reclaim a place in the starting XI.

Having recently returned to full fitness, the former Santa Clara man is eager to rediscover the dynamic form that once made him a standout figure at the Estádio do Dragão.

Sanusi joined Porto in August 2020 on a five-year deal and wasted no time in making an impact. He scored in the UEFA Champions League against Marseille and played a key role in Porto’s domestic success — including a memorable last-minute winner against Benfica in May 2022 that clinched the club's 30th Primeira Liga title.

With a clean slate under new management and a fresh pre-season ahead, Sanusi now has a golden chance to revive his Porto journey — unless, of course, a significant offer tempts the club before the window shuts.
