Erik Ten Hag is now the coach of Bayer Leverkusen, and the Super Eagles star is positive that the club will do well

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has committed his future to Bayer Leverkusen, amid speculations that he could leave the club this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface has had a good time at BayArena since joining from Belgian club Royale Union SG for €22.6 million two years ago.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker has contributed 32 goals and 12 assists in 61 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.

In his first season, he was an integral part of the team, and was key to their unbeaten run that saw them land the Bundesliga title and German Cup.

Unfortunately for Boniface, his biggest problem has been injuries and that often causes him to lose his place to Patrik Schick, who often delivers.

Last season, Boniface did not get a lot of game time under then-coach Xabi Alonso due to loss of form and dressing room issues, and that prompted talks that he would leave in the summer.

This summer, Boniface has already been heavily linked to AC Milan. There have also been links to Al Nassr, but nothing concrete has emerged yet.

Even at that, with all the speculations surrounding him, a transfer away from Bayer Leverkusen has not been ruled out, with the summer window still open for the next two months.

But now, the Super Eagles star has come out to clarify his future. Boniface has confirmed that he wants to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.

“I'm absolutely certain that my future is here. From my point of view, it's 100% clear that I'm staying,” Boniface said, per Werkself Xtra.

“I still have three years left on my contract, I want to win titles with Bayer, and have a great season.”

Can Victor Boniface win trophies with Erik Ten Hag leading Bayer Leverkusen?

Dutch tactician Erik Ten Hag did not end his relationship with his former club Manchester United in a good way.

He was already on the bad side of the fans and merely scraping through results before he was eventually sacked.

As such, if Bayer Leverkusen want to draw any hope from his appointment, they would have to look all the way back to his days as Ajax coach, when he won multiple Eredvisie titles and took them to the Champions League semis.

Victor Boniface's time under Ten Hag started on a bad note, with a shock 5-1 loss to Flamengo's under-20 team in their first game of pre-season.

However, it was just a pre-season game and not much should be drawn from it, especially as some important players were absent.

But if Bayer Leverkusen keep losing pre-season games, it might just be a sign of what is to come. Boniface will hope that the team gets a hold of Ten Hag's tactics soon and the team actually achieve success.
