Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has admitted that he still has a lot to learn before he reaches Victor Osimhen’s level, Soccernet.ng reports.

Arokodare is coming off a remarkable campaign with Genk that saw him contribute 23 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Numbers-wise, it is the 24-year-old's best top-flight campaign. His performances also earned him the Ebony Shoe in the Jupiler League.

Arokodare's performances earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles squad despite the numerous attacking options available to coach Eric Chelle.

However, the Genk star is still a peripheral player when the big boys like Victor Boniface and Super Eagles poster boy Osimhen are around.

Osimhen is one of the best strikers that Nigeria has produced since Rashidi Yekini. And he has consistently delivered the goods.

Although Osimhen are Arokodare are not on the same level currently, they have some similarities. They are both big and strong, very good in the air, and can play the ball well with their feet.

Arokodare acknowledges this. But he believes that he still has to work on his game a lot before he reaches Osimhen's level.

“To be compared to Victor (Osimhen) is a huge honour for me, but I think I have a lot to learn before I can get to his level,” Arokodare told Soccernet.ng.

“I have a lot to go through, I have a lot to prove before I can get to his level. he is such an exceptional player and an exceptional person.

“We've seen what he has done for all his clubs and his country side, so I still have a lot to do to reach up to that level.

“Talking about playing styles, I think yes we are simiolar in the way we play. But I think he's more clinical than me. But playing alongside him is going to help me learn that faster.”

Tolu Arokodare has to continue to improve

Tolu Arokodare has a lot of potential, but he still has a lot of work to do if he wants to get better. He has to produce even better numbers next season.

The Super Eagles has already started attracting interest from clubs abroad. But if he stays at Genk next season and scores more goals, he will be spoilt for choice.
