“I want to play for this team” – Does Osayi-Samuel’s comment still stand amid Palace’s 4-year deal?

Bright Osayi-Samuel transfer news continues to gain traction following a report that the Super Eagles defender is set to return to the English Premier League, Soccernet.ng reports.

Turkish outlet Fotomac reports that Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal for the Fenerbahçe defender ahead of the summer window, and a four-year deal has been tabled.

The Nigerian international has been on the radar of several English clubs since leaving Queens Park Rangers in 2021, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, a return to the Premier League is looking increasingly likely.

Osayi-Samuel On EPL Return

The Nigeria international earlier told Soccernet.ng about his ambitions to return to the Premier League after his contract expiration with Fenerbahce.

“I think everyone knows that my ambition is to play English football, to play in the [English] Premier League, you know. No disrespect they [fenerbahçe sk] have done some much for me there [in Turkey]. But my ambition is to play in the Premier League. So when I feel that the time is the right time for me to go, I will take it.” he told Soccernet.ng.

Osayi-Samuel Eye Fenerbahce Stay

However, in a recent interview with Fenerbahçe’s official website, Osayi-Samuel expressed a strong desire to remain at the club, despite enduring a tough season plagued by injuries.

He said: “I had some serious injuries. I didn't get any playing time in some games. The coach made that decision. It was a bit disappointing for me. I really want to play for this team. My contract ends at the end of the year. I will talk to the club president about it. They said they will offer me a new contract. Let's see what happens at the end of the season, what things show.”

This has sparked questions on whether his commitment still stands, especially with Crystal Palace reportedly advancing talks to secure his services.

Meanwhile, Osayi-Samuel transfer move remains one to watch closely this coming summer. Fenerbahçe are expected to hold contract talks soon, while Palace will await the green light for a potential move.
