‘Arsenal needs him’ – Super Eagles star Omeruo reveals the real reason he wants Osimhen to join Chelsea

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has made a passionate appeal for Victor Osimhen to snub Arsenal in favour of a move to Chelsea this summer, insisting Stamford Bridge would offer the striker a better chance of silverware, Soccernet.ng reports.

With Osimhen hotly tipped for a big-money move away from Galatasaray, interest from Europe’s elite is mounting.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are among the top Premier League clubs reportedly monitoring the Nigerian hitman, alongside Manchester United, Juventus, and PSG.

However, Omeruo — who previously played for Chelsea — firmly believes Osimhen’s ambitions would be better served at the west London club rather than joining an Arsenal side still searching for their first trophy since 2020.

What Super Eagles star Omeruo said of Osimhen’s possible move to Chelsea

When asked which club he would prefer Osimhen to join, Omeruo didn’t hesitate to name his former side, Chelsea.

“Of course Chelsea. Arsenal needs him, but I want him to win trophies,” Omeruo told SportyTV.

The 31-year-old centre-back made no secret of his admiration for the striker, describing him as the best in the world and urging him to take his talents to the Premier League.

“Right now he’s the best striker in the world for me,” Omeruo said. “When he was about to go to Galatasaray, we spoke, I told him, they’ll kill you with love.

“In Turkey, the fans make you appreciate, they make you love your job. It’s not just about the club you’re playing. As long as you’re a football player, you’re a star for them.”

Osimhen, 26, enjoyed a stellar campaign at Galatasaray, scoring 25 league goals and providing five assists to help the Turkish giants lift their 25th Super Lig title. He also netted a brace in the Turkish Cup final to secure a domestic double — their first since 2019.

Chelsea, meanwhile, added another European trophy to their cabinet this week by beating Real Betis 4-1 in the UEFA Conference League final, becoming the first club to have won all three major European club competitions.

Omeruo sees this success as evidence of a club that still knows how to win — something he believes should appeal to Osimhen.

“I want to see Victor in the Premier League, no doubt. I want to see him there. I want him to conquer the league.”

While Arsenal have made strides under Mikel Arteta, finishing runners-up in consecutive Premier League seasons, they remain without a major silverware since their 2020 FA Cup win.

For Omeruo, that’s a significant factor.
