Transfer: Jose Mourinho to put Osayi-Samuel’s Premier League ambition on hold

Fenerbahce's new manager, Jose Mourinho, is determined to keep Bright Osayi-Samuel in Turkey, potentially putting his English Premier League ambitions on hold, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international joined the Yellow Canaries from Queens Park Rangers during the 2021 Winter transfer window for a fee of approximately €508,000.

Osayi-Samuel’s desire to return to the English league has been apparent, especially with his contract with Fenerbahce expiring in 2025.

Mourinho Aims to Retain Osayi-Samuel

Reports from Turkish media suggest that the former Chelsea boss, who has recently taken charge of Fenerbahce, is looking to prevent Osayi-Samuel’s departure by offering him a new contract.

Naija Football, quoting Fanatik, has reported that the Şükrü Saracoğlu outfit are in discussions with the fullback to extend his stay at the club for another season.

Osayi-Samuel Eyes Premier League Return

It is well-known that the Nigerian international is eager to return to England, with several EPL clubs, including Brentford and AFC Bournemouth, showing interest.

In an earlier interview with Soccernet.ng, Osayi-Samuel expressed his willingness to consider any good offers from Premier League teams.

“I think everyone knows that my ambition is to play English football, to play in the [English] Premier League. No disrespect to Fenerbahçe, they have done so much for me here [in Turkey]. But my ambition is to play in the Premier League. So when I feel that the time is right, I will take it,” he told Soccernet.ng.

The Super Eagles defender, currently on holiday with his loved ones, awaits Fenerbahce’s decision on whether to extend his contract or facilitate his sale to another club.
