African Games: Isyaka’s penalty seals first win for Bosso’s Eagles

Sadiq Isyaka's penalty proved to be the decider for the Flying Eagles as they sealed a 1-0 win over South Sudan in their second game of the 2023 African Games, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Flying Eagles were disappointing in their first game of the African Games, suffering a 2-1 loss against Uganda. However, they were looking to return to winning ways and earn a place in the knockout round of the competition when they played South Sudan in their second game.

Ladan Bosso's lads were the favourites to claim all three points, but they had to improve on their performance from the first game to stand a chance.

The Flying Eagles dominated the first half, but they failed to take their chances and had to settle for a goalless draw in the first half.

But in the second half, Ladan Bosso's men increased the picture. They had some good looks in the first 20 minutes of the second half, but they fluffed their lines.

Eventually, their pressure paid off in the 78th minute, as they won a penalty after a South Sudan player committed a foul in the box.

Isyaka, who has been having a decent tournament made no mistake, as he dispatched calmly to make it 1-0 in the 80th minute.

The Flying Eagles had a chance to double their lead late on, but they didn't take it. Eventually, it ended 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
