Real Zaragoza have completed the signing of Nigerian striker William Agada, bringing the 26-year-old to Spain on a free transfer until the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Spanish club confirmed the transfer of the attacker via their official website until June 2026.

The move gives the Segunda División side fresh firepower in attack as they look to strengthen their push in the second half of the campaign. Zaragoza currently have the worst scoring record in the Segunda and sit second from bottom on the table after 23 matches. Agada will look to bring energy and attacking cutting edge to a side deep in relegation trouble.

Agada becomes only the third Nigerian to play for the historic Spanish club, following in the footsteps of former Super Eagles forward Ikechukwu Uche and midfielder James Igbekeme. Uche was the first to blaze that trail in 2009, arriving from Getafe, and Agada will hope to make a bigger impact than the striker who managed one goal in 18 appearances before leaving two years later.

Born in Bauchi, Agada is known for his pace and flexibility across the front line. He can operate through the middle or start from wide areas, something Zaragoza believe will give their attack more movement and energy in the months ahead.

William Agada: A career built across Israel and the United States

Agada’s journey to Spain has taken him through Israel and the United States.

After starting out with Mighty Jets in Nigeria, he moved to Israel as a teenager and made his name with Hapoel Jerusalem, scoring more than 30 goals in around 100 appearances across different spells. A loan at Hapoel Haifa during the 2020-21 season brought six goals and four assists, before he returned to Jerusalem and again finished as the club’s top scorer.

In 2022, he moved to Major League Soccer with Sporting Kansas City, where he made a strong impression, scoring 24 goals and providing six assists in 77 games. That form earned him a move to Real Salt Lake, where he played in 2025, scoring three times in 26 appearances.

Now, after his contract expired in the United States, Agada begins a new chapter in Spain. Real Zaragoza will hope his goals can make the difference in a crucial part of their season.
