Chelsea gain major advantage as academy confirms concrete move for Flying Eagles star

Abduljelil Kamaldeen

English Premier League giants, Chelsea FC, have been linked with a move to secure the signature of Nigeria's Flying Eagles star…

Kwara Football Academy (KFA) Director, Ibrahim Bako, has confirmed that Chelsea are the only club to have made a concrete approach for Flying Eagles midfielder Abduljelil Kamaldeen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Since the FIFA U20 World Cup tournament held in Chile, there has been growing speculation linking the youngster with several European sides.

Kamaldeen has attracted increasing attention from clubs across Europe, having impressed with his performance.

Chelsea, West Ham and Antwerp on Kamaldeen

Soccernet.ng has exclusively reported that Chelsea, West Ham, and Royal Antwerp are among the clubs closely monitoring Abduljelil Kamaldeen, with Chelsea reportedly leading the race.

Sources close to the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) earlier confirmed to Soccernet.ng that discussions are ongoing over a scholarship proposal that would allow Kamaldeen to continue both his education and football development abroad, rather than pursue an immediate professional transfer, as he is still a minor.

While speculation continues, KFA emphasises that any deal involving Kamaldeen will prioritise his long-term growth and development, both on and off the pitch.

Chelsea Makes Concrete Interest in Kalmadeen

While rumours have linked him with teams such as Anderlecht and West Ham, KFA insists only one club has taken a clear step forward. Speaking to Footy-Africa and obtained by Soccernet.ng, Bako clarified the current situation:

“We have had a few inquiries about the boy (Kamaldeen), but only Chelsea have put forward something for him. They are the only team I can confirm has been in touch as regards Abduljelil [Kamaldeen].”

Bako stressed that KFA’s priority is the teenager’s growth and long-term development, not just the prospect of an early move to Europe.

“Whatever we are going to do, we will do it in the best interest of the boy to aid his development, which is always key to what we do here at Kwara Football Academy. It is about growth, development, and comfort for our players. That is our main objective, and we will do the same with him as we discuss with Chelsea.”

Why Chelsea Should Go All In for Kamaldeen

Kamaldeen has continued to turn heads with his technical quality and maturity in midfield. Asked what makes the youngster stand out, Bako offered glowing praise:

Bako added: “He is really developing at a good pace, as you saw at the FIFA U20 World Cup. He is a number ‘8’, an attacking midfielder who loves to carry the ball and create chances for himself and his teammates. There are elements of his game that need improvement, but he is willing to learn and will be a great player if he stays humble and continues to work hard. I am sure of that.”

Nothing has been made official by the KFA Academy and Chelsea, but Kamaldeen is expected to continue his development with the Kwara-based academy before any move to Europe is finalised.
