Paul Onuachu joined Trabzonspor from Southampton on a season-long loan and has been firing on all cylinders in the Turkish Super Lig
Turkish Super Lig team, Trabzonspor, is reportedly gearing up for the possibility of life without Paul Onuachu, considering their younger players as potential alternatives for the Nigerian forward, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to reports from Turkish media outlets, Southampton might recall the towering Super Eagles forward due to his impressive performance since his arrival in the summer.
In anticipation of his potential departure, Trabzonspor is eyeing Enis Destan, a 21-year-old striker who was promoted to the A team by Nenad Bjelica after a loan spell the previous season. He replaced Umut Bozok based on his performance and became an alternative to Onuachu.
Destan scored twice in 10 league matches and provided one assist. Trabzonspor’s management intends to increase Destan’s salary, currently at 100 thousand Euros annually.
His contract, extending until 2026, is also expected to be prolonged. The club believes that if Destan continues to progress, he could attract substantial offers from European clubs in the near future.
While Onuachu aims to make a greater impact for the Black Sea Storm during his time in the league, an improved bid by the Turkish side might persuade Southampton to consider selling him.
