The Grigiorossi had a poor start to the season, but they are looking to pick up and push higher on the Serie A table

Super Eagles forwards David Okereke scored in Cremonese’s first mid-season friendly, helping the Grigiorossi to a 6-0 victory over Serie D side Salsomaggiore.

Cremonese have been poor in the Serie A this season. They currently sit 18th on the Serie A log, with no win after 15 games.

However, they were huge favourites going into their first mid-season friendly game against Serie D side Salsomaggiore at the Cremona sports field.

The Grigiorossi were good from the start, and they got their reward early enough. Santiago Ascacibar opened the scoring for Cremonese in the 17th minute. Before Salsomaggiore could regroup, Luka Lochoshvili doubled Cremonese’s lead in the 19th minute.

Cremonese won a penalty in the 24th minute, and Super Eagles star Dessers made no mistake from the spot, as he finished was on hand to convert from the spot to make it three.

Compatriot Okereke was not left out, as he also scored in the 39th minute to make it 4 for Cremonese.

Second-half goals from Felix Afena-Gyan and Leonardo Sernicola sealed a comprehensive 6-0 win for Cremonese.
