The Super Eagles star had a stellar showing in the Partenopeans’ opening Serie A fixture, and he proved himself yet again
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored his second consecutive goal for Napoli in their 4-0 destruction of Serie A new boys Monza.
Napoli started the season in spectacular fashion, going away to Hellas Verona to pick a 5-2 victory. Osimhen had a hand in two goals in that fixture, scoring one and assisting another.
In their second game of the season- the first at the Diego Maradona stadium, the Partenopeans were huge favorites to take all three points off a timid, newly-promoted Monza.
The Serie A new boys played tough in the opening embers of the game, but the gulf in quality finally came to bare in the 35th minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring for Napoli with a thunderous strike that beat the Monza keeper after taking a slight deflection.
Napoli were always the better side, and just before the break, the masked Super Eagles marksman hit again for the Naples side.
Osimhen was put through by Zambo Anguissa, and he showed great composure finishing with aplomb to make it 2-0.
Monza tried to string a few attacks in the second half, but they fell short, as second-half goals from Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min-Jae ensured a 4-0 win for Napoli.
Osimhen was taken off in the 84th minute, and he was replaced by Adam Ounas.
