The Tigers are back among the big boys in Italy and want to boost their survival chances with the signing of a prolific Nigeria international
Italian Serie A newbies US Cremonese have made an initial offer for Super Eagles and KRC Genk forward Cyriel Dessers.
But according to Belgium’s HNL (via Tuttomercatoweb), KRC Genk rejected Cremonese’s offer for being way below their benchmark.
A second offer from Cremonese is expected, with Genk looking to get nothing less than €4 million for Dessers.
Surprisingly, Dessers is still back at Genk after enjoying an excellent spell on loan at Feyenoord last term
The 27-year-old scored ten goals to finish as the top goalscorer in the maiden edition of the Europa Conference League.
Despite Dessers’ historical feat, Feyenoord turned down the chance to sign Dessers permanently for €4 million due to financial constraints.
Fiorentina showed interest in Dessers a few weeks ago, at the peak of their search for a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who dashed to Juventus in January.
But no acceptable offer has arrived for Dessers, and the Nigeria international has returned to the Limburgers’ first team setup.
The former Heracles Almelo striker started and scored Genk’s first goal in his side’s 3-2 defeat at Club Brugge in the matchday one clash of the 2022-23 Pro League season.
