Rafiu Durosinmi reveals secret behind red-hot form after reaching 5-goal mark

Super Eagles striker Rafiu Durosinmi has revealed the secret behind his sensational start to life at Genk after taking his Belgian Pro League tally to five goals, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Pisa striker continued his impressive scoring run on Sunday when he rescued Genk from defeat against Gent, scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against the league leaders.

Durosinmi has quickly established himself as one of the most dangerous attackers in the Belgian top flight since joining Genk from Pisa, scoring in every league appearance except the goalless draw against Anderlecht.

His latest strike also moved him to the top of the Belgian Pro League scoring chart, alongside fellow Nigerian Mustapha Isah.

The Nigerian forward has also been voted Man of the Match again, underlining the influence he has had on Genk’s impressive start to the campaign.

While his goalscoring numbers have attracted plenty of attention, Durosinmi believes confidence and belief have played a major role in his outstanding start.

The 23-year-old admitted that leading the scoring charts feels good but insisted that his focus is on continuing to believe in what he can achieve.

“I am happy to have been voted Man of the Match again. It also feels good to be the top scorer at the moment. In football, anything is possible, but you have to believe in it,” Durosinmi said in quotes revealed by Genk's official website.

The striker had already made his ambitions clear earlier in the season, revealing that winning the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot was one of his targets.

“I want to score, I want to finish high in the standings, and I also want to go for the top scorer title. I have always dreamed of that,” he said.

Family support driving Durosinmi

Beyond his personal belief, Durosinmi also pointed to the presence of his family and wife as an important source of encouragement during his flying start.

“My family and my wife are here to cheer me on, and that feels good. It certainly wasn't an easy match,” the Genk striker added.

That support appears to have helped the Nigerian settle quickly at Genk following his move from Pisa, with the forward already producing the kind of consistency that has made him score five goals in six league games.

Durosinmi is also beginning to follow a path previously taken by fellow Nigerians Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare at Genk.

“Considering the fact that they conceded hardly any goals, this is quite a good performance,” he said.
