The 20-year-old striker could be a surprise selection in the list of potential options available to replace the injured Victor Osimhen after he scored yet again in the Turkish top-flight
Paul Mukairu sent a message to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr ahead of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations after scoring for the third consecutive league game.
Mukairu was on target as Antalyaspor defeated Alanyaspor 3-0 in their Turkish Super Lig encounter at the Antalya Stadium on Saturday afternoon,
The former Anderlecht striker doubled the home side’s advantage in the 68th minute after Bünyamin Balcı had opened the scoring five minutes before half-time.
It was Mukairu’s fourth goal in all competitions this season and his third consecutive league goal. The Nigerian striker had scored in the games against Hatayspor and Altay SK.
And with Osimhen out of AFCON next year, Mukairu could stake a claim for a spot if he continues his recent goalscoring form.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem also took part in the game, but he could not prevent his side from a 3-0 defeat.
Sherel Floranus’ strike in the 90th-minute added gloss to the scoreline for the home side.
Soccernet stupid, sell out, irresponsible, undevopmental journalism for attempting to force mutual Gernort Rohr on Nigeria after being sacked by Nigerians. Read Segun Odegnami in The Guardian today and see who is writing on behalf of Nigerians. How much did Rohr paid you guys for the spin jobs you are doing at the expense of Nigerian football development. Bad journalism
You are advertising Mukairu here when we have Cyril Dessers, Taiwo Awoniyi, Sadiq Umar and Emmanuel Denies who are performing week in week out, Even player like Victo Moses is needed in the super eagles team. If Rohr fails to give this players chance to prove themselves in the nation’s cup, God will not be happy with Him.
