The transfer window is kicking into top gear, and another young Nigerian defender may be on the move soon
Santa Clara fullback Zaidu Sanusi is on the radar of quite a few European clubs.
It is, however, understood that both Porto and Olympiacos are reportedly leading the race for his signature, according to Portuguese Publications, Zerozero.
Sanusi impressed last term in his first season at Santa Clara, playing 24 games, scoring once, and providing two assists as the Azoreans posted the eighth-best defensive record in the 18-team Primeira Liga.
Champions Porto are keen on moving for the 23-year-old defender – valued at €2.5 million – whether transfer-linked left-back Alex Telles stays or is sold.
But Greek giants Olympiacos have also made Sanusi their number one transfer target having sanctioned the sale of defender Kostas Tsimikas to English champions Liverpool recently.
It will come down to which club is willing to pay more for the Nigerian and whether the Lagos-born defender is interested in leaving Portugal, where he has resided since joining Gil Vicente four years ago.
Sanusi is yet to receive his international call-up, but he could be close with Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr looking to find options to compete with left fullback Jamilu Collins.
