Chelsea are keen to add a central figure up-front, and with interest in Osimhen already confirmed, a move for him might be on the cards.
With the relationship between Napoli and Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen seemingly growing distant, Chelsea are poised to make a move for the player, Soccernet.ng reports.
Last season’s Serie A highest goal scorer hasn’t found the back of the net since scoring a hat trick for his national team in the game against Sao Tome and Principe.
The 24-year-old scored three goals in the first three games for his club side before the international break, but since then, has no goals in his last three outings.
To complicate things, the forward exchanged words with his manager on the touchline after he was subbed off in the game against Bologna, a game in which he missed a penalty.
The club then took to their TikTok page to post a video, shaming him for pleading for a penalty, but then it was later deleted, and the forward is reportedly set to take legal action against his club side.
Chelsea on the other hand, are struggling for goals, as they’ve only recorded two wins since the turn of the year. They were interested in the Nigerian, but the Napoli hierarchy slammed a huge price tag on their most valuable player, leaving the Blues no choice but to look elsewhere.
According to Talksport, Chelsea are eyeing the situation in Naples and want to harness it to their advantage. The report revealed that Chelsea Manager, Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear he wants a new striker in January.
Napoli might not be willing to part ways with Osimhen in January, but a move in the summer is not out of question, considering the Nigerian’s current contract runs out in 2025.
Should a move for Osimhen stall, Chelsea will turn to Brentford’s Ivan Toney, and it is understood that the Bees would demand a minimum of £60million for the Englishman.
