Victor Osimhen transfer: Galatasaray make final decision on Super Eagles star

Turkish giants Galatasaray have made it clear that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will remain at the club beyond the summer transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Turkish champions have rejected strong interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs and do not plan to listen to more offers for their star forward, according to BeinSports.

The 27-year-old played a key role as Galatasaray won a fourth straight Süper Lig title and reached the Champions League Round of 16 last season. His goals have also made him one of the most important players at Rams Park and in Turkish football.

Galatasaray choose Osimhen over huge transfer money

The club's decision is easier to understand because Osimhen has a contract until June 2029 and there is no release clause. That means Galatasaray can decide whether to sell him and at what price.

Several clubs have already tested their resolve. Atlético Madrid reportedly made an offer worth up to €125 million, while Manchester United also made concrete enquiries. Both moves failed to change Galatasaray's position.

Arsenal also tried a different approach by offering Viktor Gyökeres plus €30 million, but that proposal was rejected. Tottenham have also seen bids, including a reported €60 million offer, turned down. Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked but neither made any moves yet.

Galatasaray's decision is based on more than money. After Mauro Icardi's departure, the Super Lig champions are planning to give Osimhen the famous No. 9 shirt and make him club captain. They want him to lead their next Champions League campaign.

There is also a major problem for any Italian club. A clause linked to Osimhen's move from Napoli means Galatasaray could face a penalty of at least €70 million if they sell him to a Serie A club before September 2027.

Osimhen scored 35 goals in all competitions in his first season at Galatasaray and added seven assists. He also became the fastest player in the club's history to reach 50 goals, doing so in 59 appearances.

With his contract running until 2029 and Galatasaray determined to build around him, the Super Eagles star appears set to stay in Istanbul.
