Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to be linked with a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, although no official approach has been made to Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.
Reports in Turkey and England claim Spurs are closely monitoring the Barcelona-linked Nigerian international as manager Roberto De Zerbi looks to strengthen his attack ahead of the new season. The speculation grew after De Zerbi hinted that the club was working on a mystery “bomba” signing behind the scenes, leading many fans and pundits to wonder whether Osimhen could be the player he was referring to.
At this stage, there has been no formal bid or direct contact between Tottenham and Galatasaray. However, Osimhen's name continues to appear on lists of possible targets because of his outstanding performances in Turkey and Europe.
The biggest obstacle is the transfer fee. Galatasaray are reportedly unwilling to consider offers below €130 million, while some reports value their captain at as much as €150 million. Such a deal would easily become one of the most expensive signings in Premier League history.
That price means Tottenham would almost certainly need to make significant player sales before attempting a move. The North London club must also compete with several European heavyweights.
Manchester United continue to see Osimhen, who recently avoided a final problem in Turkey, as their ideal long-term No. 9 after searching for a proven goalscorer. Long-time admirers Chelsea have also maintained their interest throughout the transfer window, while Atlético Madrid are also credited with interest in the Nigerian as they consider strengthening Diego Simeone's attack.
Galatasaray remain confident despite Osimhen's Premier League ambition
While transfer rumours continue to grow, Osimhen appears settled at Galatasaray following another unforgettable season in Istanbul.
After completing his permanent €75 million move, the 27-year-old has become the face of the Turkish champions. The club is set to reward him with the captain's armband and the famous No. 9 shirt, clear signs that they see him as the leader of their long-term project.
His performances have justified that faith. Osimhen helped Galatasaray win the league title, finished as their Süper Lig top scorer and led the club's attack in the UEFA Champions League.
Off the pitch, the Nigerian striker is also in a comfortable position. He is among the club's highest-paid players and has repeatedly spoken about how happy he is with life in Istanbul.
Even so, Osimhen has never hidden his admiration for the Premier League. Playing in England remains one of the biggest ambitions of his career, and people close to the striker believe he still wants to test himself in what many consider the world's toughest domestic league.
His representatives are understood to be monitoring opportunities with leading English clubs, waiting for a project that matches both his sporting ambitions and Galatasaray's financial demands.
