Super Eagles weekend recap: Goals galore for Osimhen, Arokodare, as Iwobi’s troubles at Fulham continues

It was another busy weekend for Super Eagles stars in Europe, as they resumed action for their various clubs in the search for domestic dominance, Soccernet.ng reports.

Victor Osimhen was again decisive for Galatasaray, while Tolu Arokodare opened his Eredivisie account for Ajax. Ademola Lookman also continued his impressive start to life at Atlético Madrid by getting on the scoresheet.

Samuel Chukwueze also produced a solid performance for AC Milan as he continued his push for a more prominent role under coach Ruben Amorim.

There were positive performances elsewhere, with Ola Aina helping Nottingham Forest secure an impressive draw at Liverpool and Bright Osayi-Samuel featuring in Birmingham City's first Championship victory of the season. Maduka Okoye was also key as Udinese claimed a 3-2 win at Monza.

For Alex Iwobi, however, the weekend brought more frustration as Fulham's difficult start continued.

Victor Osimhen: Another goal and assist for Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen is showing no signs of slowing down. The Super Eagles striker scored and assisted as Galatasaray defeated Göztepe 3-2 to maintain their strong start to the Turkish season.

Osimhen first turned provider, setting up Gabriel Sara for Galatasaray's second goal before converting from the penalty spot eight minutes later to put his team 3-1 ahead.

Göztepe pulled one back, but Galatasaray held on. The Nigerian was also denied another goal by an offside decision, showing how heavily involved he was throughout the match.

For Galatasaray, Osimhen's form is becoming an increasingly valuable weapon.

Tolu Arokodare's First Eredivisie Goal

Tolu Arokodare finally opened his Ajax account in the Dutch Eredivisie. The Nigerian striker came off the bench and scored in Ajax's 4-0 victory over Telstar, finding the net in the 60th minute to put his side three goals ahead.

It was exactly the kind of contribution Arokodare needed after his move to Amsterdam. The 25-year-old faces serious competition for minutes at Ajax, with Marcos Leonardo and Kasper Dolberg. But that performance will definitely keep him in coach Michel's good books.

He now has four goals and one assist in six competitive games for the Godenzonen.

Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman is beginning to look increasingly comfortable in Atlético Madrid's attack.

The Nigerian scored his first La Liga goal of the season for the club in a 3-1 victory over Sevilla, finishing off an impressive attacking move to give Diego Simeone's side the lead.

The goal was the reward for an encouraging performance from the winger, who looked much more dangerous when allowed to operate from the left rather than being used as a conventional centre-forward in the first two games of the campaign.

That change could prove important. Lookman's ability to carry the ball, beat defenders and attack spaces makes him far more dangerous when he can face goal and start from wider areas.

Samuel Chukwueze Shines Against Akor Adams' Venezia

Samuel Chukwueze continued his push for a bigger role at AC Milan with another impressive outing.

The Nigerian winger featured in Milan's 2-0 victory over Venezia, a result that kept Amorim's side moving in the right direction.

Chukwueze's importance to Milan has been a major talking point since the start of the campaign. After struggling for consistency during his first two seasons at San Siro, the winger now has a fresh opportunity to establish himself.

Against Venezia, the Super Eagles star registered three key passes, completed 84% of his passes, won eight of nine duels, and made two successful tackles. It was a solid showing.

With Milan competing on multiple fronts this season, Chukwueze will be looking to keep producing the consistent run of performances that has been missing from his Milan career.

Meanwhile Akor Adams, who started for Venezia, was very quiet. He had three shots in the game, but only one was on target, and Mike Maignan handled that well.

Bright Osayi-Samuel: Birmingham finally get their win

Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel played 89 minutes, as Birmingham City secured their first Championship win of the season by defeating Wrexham 2-1 at the Racecourse Ground.

Phil Neumann scored both of Birmingham's goals, while Callum Doyle scored a consolation for Wrexham.

Osayi-Samuel was substituted in stoppage time after his strong display on the right side. The Super Eagles star registered five ball recoveries, two clearances, and won two of his three tackles.

The result was particularly important for Birmingham after their disastrous 6-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Brentford earlier in the week. Osayi-Samuel will be looking to keep shining for his club.

Maduka Okoye

Maduka Okoye had to work for his clean sheet — although he did not get one.

The Nigerian goalkeeper made three saves as Udinese defeated Monza 3-2 away from home in Serie A. Okoye faced five shots on target and stopped three of them as Udinese held on for an important victory. It was not the cleanest of wins for Udinese, but a win away from home is always good. Monza have Ebenezer Akinsanmiro in their squad, but he was absent due to injury.

For Okoye, after keeping 10 clean sheets in 30 Serie A appearances last season, he will look to do better at his club, especially since Eric Chelle is watching, amid the battle for the Super Eagles number 1 shirt.

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey: Fulham's struggles continue

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey's difficult start to the season continued as Fulham suffered the second consecutive Premier League loss. The two Super Eagles star started and played 90 minutes against Sunderland, but could not prevent Fulham from losing 1-0.

Wilson Isidor scored the only goal as Fulham were again left searching for answers in attack. For Iwobi, the problem is becoming increasingly familiar.

He is most effective when Fulham can get him involved between the lines, allow him to combine with teammates and give him opportunities to carry the ball forward. But with Fulham struggling to create consistently, his influence has been limited. Bassey, who was captain, looked solid at the back, but they just had that lapse that cost them.

Meanwhile, notable mention to Rafiu Durosinmi, who scored his fourth consecutive goal for Genk in their 4-0 spanking of Beveren in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
