Mamelodi Sundowns to miss out on Olisa Ndah as Super Eagles star nears big transfer

Former South African Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns are set to miss out on Olisa Ndah, as the Super Eagles star is closing in on a move elsewhere, Soccernet.ng reports.

​Ndah has been without a club since parting ways with Stellenbosch at the end of last season. Subsequently, he was linked to several clubs in South Africa. At one point, he was also linked with a move to the Middle East, but that has yet to materialize.

​In recent weeks, the 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns. The club needs reinforcements, but the primary reason the move has stalled is the foreign player quota in their squad, leaving talks at a standstill.

​However, it now appears that Olisa is headed elsewhere — and not to a South African club.

Olisa Ndah: Mamelodi Sundowns Talks Flop as Libyan Move Nears

​According to South African outlet SoccerBeat, Olisa Ndah is closing in on a transfer to an unconfirmed Libyan club. The Super Eagles star is reportedly in advanced talks, and the move could be announced soon.

​Given the Nigerian’s quality, his destination will likely be one of their top clubs, such as Al Ahli Tripoli, Al Ittihad Tripoli, Al Nasr, or Benghazi heavyweights Al Ahly and Al Hilal.

​Despite the unrest in the country, Libyan clubs are among the highest-paying teams in Africa and have even been attracting talent from Europe. Consequently, Ndah is likely in line for a lucrative deal.

​This will mark the Nigerian's first time playing outside of South Africa and Nigeria. Having been plagued by injuries over the past two years, he will be eager to regain his best form and get his career back on track.

​As for Sundowns, they remain one of the wealthiest clubs on the continent and the reigning champions of Africa, giving them ample resources to pursue other top targets in their bid for league and continental honors.

​They currently sit third in the PSL standings, with seven points from three games.
