Transfers: Brighton-trained Super Falcons goalkeeper set to join new club

Super Falcons goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor is set to leave English side Portsmouth this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

​Erhabor signed her first professional contract with Brighton in 2024 but struggled to make an impact, leading to consecutive loan spells with Hibernian and Plymouth Argyle. Last year, she joined Portsmouth on a one-year deal, which expired at the end of the season.

​At the international level, Erhabor was part of the Super Falcons squad that underwhelmed at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, exiting in the quarter-finals and missing out on qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.

​A return to England now appears unlikely. Fresh reports indicate that the goalkeeper is currently training with Swedish Damallsvenskan outfit AIK Stockholm ahead of a potential transfer. If she impresses during her trial, she is expected to be offered a contract, though no agreement has been finalized yet.

​Comfort Erhabor: Why Super Falcons Star Needs the Move to AIK

​At just 21 years old, Erhabor has yet to find career stability — a vital component for any young goalkeeper looking to develop through consistent game time. England has simply not provided that environment, with neither Brighton nor Portsmouth offering a clear pathway forward.

​Sweden, by contrast, has historically been a fruitful proving ground for Nigerian talent, serving as a springboard for Super Falcons stars to secure major European moves. Erhabor will be hoping for a similar trajectory.

​With first-choice national team goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie only 25 and in the prime of her career, Erhabor faces steep competition for the starting shirt. To mount a genuine challenge for the number-one spot, she must play regular, high-level football.

AIK Stockholm — currently sitting fourth in the league and 14 points adrift of leaders BK Häcken — offer a competitive mid-table environment where she could get the vital minutes she needs.
