The US President Donald Trump has further complicated the situation, as he recently stated that he could not guarantee the safety of the Iranian team should they choose to compete in the tournament.

A Blow to Nigeria’s World Cup Hopes
The news serves as a significant disappointment for Nigerian football fans. Since the Super Eagles failed to advance past the continental playoffs, supporters had been holding out hope for a backdoor entry into the competition.
