AC Milan center-back Fikayo Tomori has identified Super Eagles stars Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen as some of the most challenging attackers he has faced in his career, Soccerned.ng reports.
Tomori has established himself as one of the top defenders in the Italian top flight, serving as a linchpin for AC Milan over the past five years.
With the Englishman anchoring the backline, the Rossoneri secured the Serie A title four seasons ago. This term, he remains a fixture in the squad, featuring in 24 league matches and contributing two assists.
His time at a club of Milan’s stature has seen him go against some of the world’s most clinical forwards.
In a recent interview, Tomori highlighted Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez as a particularly difficult customer, noting that the Argentine’s impeccable timing sets him apart. He also spoke about the tactical difficulty of tracking former Juventus playmaker Paulo Dybala.
However, it was the Nigerian duo of Osimhen and Lookman who earned specific praise for their unique physical and technical attributes.
What Makes Osimhen and Lookman Different To Tomori?
Talking more on his toughest opponents, Fikayo Tomori broke down the specific attributes that make the Super Eagles stars a nightmare for defenders.
He described Osimhen as a “force of nature” due to his relentless work rate. Tomori also praised Lookman’s agility and close control despite his significantly smaller size.
”The most difficult players to mark? Dybala, because he operates in spaces where you can't easily intervene,” Tomori explained.
”Then there’s Lautaro; he moves exceptionally well. He isn't the tallest, but his timing is perfect—he often initiates contact before the ball arrives to gain the advantage.
”Osimhen is a force of nature; he never stops running. Lookman is also incredibly difficult to mark—he’s very quick and moves the ball with impressive speed. I even joked with him that if he had joined Inter, we wouldn't be friends anymore.”
While both Lookman and Osimhen enjoyed highly successful spells in Italy, neither currently plays in Serie A.
Osimhen is leading the line for Galatasaray in the Turkish Süper Lig, while Lookman has taken his talents to Spain with Atlético Madrid.
