Super Falcons of Nigeria produced a dominant response to their weekend setback by defeating Cameroon 3-1 in an international friendly at the Military Stadium in Yaoundé on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reports.

The result came three days after the Falcons suffered a narrow defeat in the first of two matches against the Indomitable Lionesses, with Head Coach Justin Madugu rotating his squad heavily for the return fixture.

Cameroon opened the scoring in the seventh minute, briefly threatening a repeat of their earlier victory. Nigeria, however, settled into the game and began to assert control in midfield and wide areas.

Chinwendu Ihezuo restored parity in the 32nd minute, heading home from close range after meeting Rinsola Babajide’s delivery from the flank.

The turnaround was completed before the break when Babajide reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and fired Nigeria into the lead in the 43rd minute.

After the interval, the Super Falcons maintained their tempo and discipline. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade created the third goal with a well-weighted cross from the right, which Michelle Alozie converted with a diving header in the 64th minute to put the contest beyond Cameroon’s reach.

Madugu’s tactical changes proved decisive, with Super Falcons pressing higher up the pitch and limiting Cameroon’s ability to play through midfield, forcing the hosts into long and ineffective passes.

Nigeria and Cameroon sharpen form ahead of WAFCON

Both sides are using the friendlies as part of their build-up to the upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations, which will be staged in Morocco from March 17 to April 3.

The victory offers encouragement for Nigeria's Super Falcons after their earlier defeat and underlines their status as one of Africa’s most consistent teams.

For the Cameroon Indomitable Lionesses, the two-match series provided valuable preparation against high-level opposition ahead of the continental tournament.
