Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has started working on the pitch just over a month after undergoing surgery for a knee injury, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface suffered an injury at Werder Bremen at the start of December, and it was later confirmed to be a knee ligament problem that he had been nursing since the middle of last year.
At first, he had the option of either undergoing surgery or playing through the pain. However, after seeing a specialist at the turn of the year, he went under the knife. At the time, it was reported that Boniface would be out of action until the end of the season.

Now, the Super Eagles star has started charting his way back to full fitness. He has been teasing fans about making a return soon, and on Tuesday, he shared a video of himself doing some light work on the pitch.

Boniface was fully kitted in Bayer Leverkusen gear while working with a trainer. He also shared another clip of himself working out in the gym. This is all part of the recovery process as he strives to reach full fitness and return to competitive action.

Where Does Victor Boniface's Future Lie?
Although Victor Boniface was wearing a Bayer Leverkusen kit in the video he shared, he is still technically a Werder Bremen player.
Recall that he joined the club on loan last summer, so he remains under contract there for the duration of the deal.

However, it remains unknown what will happen once he reaches full fitness. His recurring injury problems have hindered him from performing at the peak of his abilities, and that might encourage Bayer Leverkusen to part ways with him permanently.
Boniface still has two years left on his parent contract, which is ample time for him to prove that he is indispensable to the Leverkusen side. He will be hoping to return to his best form once he is cleared to play.
