Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was seen on camera sharing some affectionate moments with Ademola Lookman following their victory over Club Brugge on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman was a surprise exclusion from the starting XI for the second leg of Atletico's UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.
Having been involved in six goals in his previous six appearances, the Nigerian international was widely expected to lead the line for Los Colchoneros, especially given the high stakes of the fixture.
Despite the initial snub, Lookman was eventually introduced in the 70th minute with the Spanish giants leading 2-1.
His entry immediately injected fresh pace and urgency into the attack. It took him just six minutes to make his mark, combining devastatingly well with Alexander Sørloth and Antoine Griezmann to set up Atleti’s third goal.
Though he missed a late chance to get on the scoresheet himself, the match ended 4-1, ensuring Atletico progressed to the Quarter-finals, where they will face either Liverpool or Tottenham.

After the final whistle, Diego Simeone — known for his fiery and passionate character — was clearly in his element.
While he was seen embracing several members of the squad, he appeared particularly delighted with Lookman’s contribution.
As the players stood applauding the fans, Simeone made his way across the pitch to congratulate them. While most received a standard handshake and go, the manager gave Lookman a much more exuberant embrace from behind, shaking him playfully.

The special treatment didn't end there. As the team headed toward the dressing room, Simeone stood at the mouth of the tunnel to shake hands with every player, once again singling out Lookman for a warm, extended greeting. It was a clear sign of the growing bond between the Argentine tactician and his January signing.

Before Lookman joined Atletico Madrid, there were reports that Simeone was a big admirer. And given the start that the Nigerian has had, it is not difficult to see the reason for the affection. The Super Eagles star will look to continue shining for Los Colchoneros in the coming weeks.
