Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman nicked a goal and an assist on his debut for Atletico Madrid, as they cruised to a 5-0 victory over Betis, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman completed his transfer from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid at the start of the week, and coach Diego Simeone threw him straight into the thick of things. The Super Eagles star started for Los Rojiblancos in their crucial Copa Del Rey quarterfinal game against Betis.
He paired Lookman with French striker Antoine Griezmann, and they looked really good up front.
Betis started the game really well, but Simeone's men soon grew into the tie. They grabbed the lead, courtesy of David Hancko, who got on the end of a cross from Koke.

Nigeria's Lookman got his first major chance of the game in the 16th minute. He wriggled his way through some challenges from Betis defenders and struck a low shot in the box, but he could not keep it on target.
The former Everton man got another chance in the 19th minute, as he struck a shot from the edge of the box, but his attempt was blocked.
Los Rojiblancos were not to be denied, however, as they got their second of the game in the 30th minute after a brilliant effort from Giuliano Simeone.
Just seven minutes after that, Atleti got their third, and it was Lookman with his debut goal. He received a fine pass from Pablo Barrios in the box, beat two defenders, and placed a cheeky strike into the bottom-left corner of the goal.

That gave Atletico Madrid a very comfortable lead heading into the break. But that did not stop them in the second half.
Lookman set up Griezmann for Atletico Madrid's fourth in the 62nd minute, before Thiago Almada made it five in the 83rd minute.

A Great Start To Life For Ademola Lookman, There's More To Come
Ademola Lookman's debut performance for Atletico shows that he has settled in nicely at the club and can lead the team from the front.
He missed two big chances in the game, but aside from that, he was brilliant. And coach Simeone must be buzzing at what havoc his new-look attack could wreak.

Going forward, he must continue to improve and be consistent. Atleti are challenging on multiple fronts this season and need all their players delivering in every game. Moreover, there are other players who are desperate for game time at the club, so Lookman has to be at his best if he wants to be an undisputed starter.
Next up for Atleti is a La Liga fixture against the same Betis side on Sunday, and they will be looking to claim another win.
