Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has weighed in on Fulham's chances of securing European football at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

After a slow start to the campaign, the Cottagers have found their rhythm in the Premier League. Marco Silva’s men claimed their eighth win of the season on Sunday, defeating Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light.

Goals from Alex Iwobi and Raul Jimenez ensured that Enzo Le Fée’s 76th-minute strike for the Black Cats was nothing more than a consolation.

That result moved Fulham up to 10th in the Premier League table, sitting on 37 points after 27 matches.

Currently, the Cottagers trail Manchester United and Chelsea by eight points for the final European qualification spots.

However, Fulham have proven they can grind out results even when the chips are down, and if they can string together a consistent run over the final 11 games, a top-seven finish may not be out of reach.

Iwobi has been a vital part of the Fulham machine this season, contributing three goals and three assists in 21 Premier League appearances.

When asked about the prospect of playing in Europe next season, the Nigerian international offered a coy response.

While expressing his delight with the hard-fought victory at Sunderland, Iwobi emphasized the importance of maintaining focus throughout the final stretch of the campaign.

”We knew it was going to be difficult; the pitch wasn't great, Iwobi said, per Jack Kelly.

“We knew if we wanted to climb up the table, we had to get these points away from home. They have been very good at home, so it's great to get the result we wanted.

”We take it step by step. Onto the next game; we got the three points, which was the aim. We take it game by game—to use that cliché—and see where we end up at the end of the season.”

Fulham face a challenging but potentially rewarding schedule over the coming weeks. They are set for back-to-back London derbies against Tottenham and West Ham, followed by clashes with Nottingham Forest, Burnley, and Liverpool.

If the Cottagers can maximize their points return from these fixtures, Iwobi and his teammates may well see their European dreams become a reality.
