Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has revealed that his favorite team at the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations was Nigeria's Super Eagles, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Super Eagles were knocked out of AFCON 2025 in the semifinals following a heartbreaking penalty shootout loss to the hosts, Morocco.
While Nigeria struggled to impose themselves on that particular game — as the Moroccans matched them in every department — it was arguably their only disappointing performance of the tournament.

Prior to that fixture, the Super Eagles had dominated all five of their previous matches. They grew into the tournament slowly and improved with every game.

They made light work of formidable opponents like Tunisia, Mozambique, and Algeria.
In fact, Nigeria was so dominant against the Fennec Foxes that the Algerians failed to create a single clear-cut chance throughout the match.

The Super Eagles played an exciting brand of football, creating chances in abundance while preventing their opponents from finding any rhythm.
By the quarter-final stage, Nigeria had already netted 14 goals — a feat unmatched by any other team in the competition.
Yaya Toure Declares Super Eagles as His Team of the Tournament
Following the conclusion of AFCON 2025, former Manchester City and Barcelona star Yaya Toure was asked to name the best team he saw in Morocco.

Although Toure is an Ivorian legend, and gave an honorable mention to the Elephants of Ivory Coast, he maintained that the Super Eagles were the standout team of the tournament.
He noted that their tactical discipline and attacking flair separated them from the rest of the field.
“I was impressed with Nigeria, they played good football. When you see the stats, they've been scoring more than usual goals, full attack, very good football,” Toure said.
“The most impressive for me was Nigeria. The football they were playing, the goals they were scoring, the players were winning.
“They had two CAF Plaers of the Year, they played such wonderful games, but they were kicked out by Morocco.”
Before the AFCON 2025 kicked off, the Super Eagles were not expected to perform well due to their disappointing results in recent games.

However, with the performance in Morocco, fans will be hoping that the team will continue to improve under the tutelage of Eric Chelle.
The next Africa Cup of Nations will be held next year, and Nigeria will be hoping that they can do one better and win gold.
