Super Eagles and Sevilla striker Akor Jerome Adams has shared his thoughts on Nigeria's AFCON 2025 third-place victory against Egypt, Soccernet.ng reports.
After losing to the hosts on penalties in the semi-final, the Super Eagles headed to Casablanca to play against the Pharaohs.
History favoured Nigeria as they'd never lost a third-place game. Still, the encounter was one where fortune favoured the brave, as Hossam Hassan's star players – Mo Salah and Omar Marmoush were denied from twelve yards by Stanley Nwabali.
Akor Adams played all 90 minutes against the Egyptians and stepped up to convert Nigeria's second penalty after Fisayo Dele-Bashiru initially missed.

Akor Adams – Nigeria were the best team at the AFCON
After helping the three-time African Champions to a bronze medal in his maiden campaign, the ex-Montpellier striker revealed he was delighted with the team's effort, despite their deference from the set goal.
“We're the best (team at the AFCON). We came for the gold, but we didn't get it. However, we're proud of what we've been able to achieve,” the 25-year-old told Ademola Victor.

“We have a very strong group, everybody is going home with a better friendship with the next person, and we're all better people now.
“We're all grateful to Eric Chelle for what he has done for us as a group over the last three weeks, we're better people because of him.
“He has given me the opportunity to represent my beloved Nigeria,” Akor continued, citing the influence of the Franco-Malian tactician.

The ex-Sogndal man scored in Nigeria's 4-0 against Mozambique, their highest scoring game in Morocco, and Akor scored the team's fourth, dedicating it to his mother.
After the game, Akor Adams revealed his mother was ill. With the tournament coming to a close, the Sevilla striker thanked the CAF medical officers for looking after her.
“Like every other tournament, things will happen in between, and this tournament isn't any different from that.

“I'm grateful it's not anything out of control. I am grateful to the CAF medicals because they took care of her. She's much better now, and I'm glad we got to experience this together.
“I'm not very happy [about the result], but the most important thing is we came out with a win.
“It's not simple; some people came and went home with nothing. It's my first medal; there's nothing to compare it to,” the hard worker concluded.
