Super Eagles and Sevilla striker Akor Jerome Adams has revealed how much it means to him to represent the Nigerian National team at the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 25-year-old made his debut for the Nigerian National team in their 2-1 win against Lesotho back in October 2025, and has immediately become a first-team name in Eric Chelle's side.
Since then, he has started six of Nigeria's seven games, all alongside Victor Osimhen, scoring three goals and opening his AFCON goal account in Nigeria's 4-0 win against Mozambique last night.

Akor Adams is proud to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria
The former Montpellier forward provided two assists against Mozambique, setting up the first two goals for Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
Victor Osimhen was taken off in the 68th minute, and Akor had the responsibility of leading the line for the Super Eagles for the next 18 minutes. He took his chance in style, sending his effort onto the roof of the Mozambican goal.

After the game, the centre-forward revealed his mother was hospitalised earlier in the day, and dedicated his goal to her.
“First, Glory to God for the privilege to have my AFCON half goal like all of you have been waiting for, but the goal is dedicated to my mom,” the former Sogndal forward told Soccernet.ng.

“She's supposed to be here, but she's in the hospital right now. She was admitted this morning, but she's much better now.
“I'm happy for the team. Victor had a fantastic game. Lookman had a fantastic game. So we came out with the victory, and we're happy.
“We won. That's the key takeaway. It's very important, it's very important because people have been talking about all types of things that we cannot keep from conceding goals, but today again we proved that we can defend well.

“It doesn't matter who you're playing against; we can defend well, we can be very detailed in our communication, and we came out with a clean sheet.
“By the grace of God, I want to score more goals. When it rains, it pours. We've been getting a lot of support from Sevilla and positive messages back on my results.
“Sevilla is the club of my heart, and I know that they love me and I love them too. I feel at home in that place. I'm grateful for the club, for the president and everybody who works in the club.

“I'm privileged to play for Sevilla, actually, don't get me wrong, but playing for Nigeria is the greatest pride I have felt for I, for myself, for my family, and I, I'm very sure every player on the team feels that way.
“It's a privilege, it's a responsibility as well, and I'm very aware of that. So I'm grateful to God for this time in history, representing Nigeria in this way.
Quizzed about how he's able to combine very well with Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen in Nigeria's attack, Eric Chelle said;
“I think it's simple, just don't run when the other person is running,” he concluded.

Nigeria will find out their quarter-final opponents tonight. They'll play against the winner of the round of sixteen clash between DR Congo and Algeria.
