Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has insisted that Nigeria’s full attention remains on their next assignment against Uganda, Soccernet.ng reports.
Despite already securing qualification for the knockout phase of the Africa Cup of Nations, the former Leicester City star eyes a flawless group stage campaign.
Speaking ahead of the Group C encounter, Ndidi revealed that the mood in the Super Eagles camp is positive, with confidence growing after the team’s recent results against Tanzania and Tunisia.

However, the captain of the Eagles, as observed by Soccernet.ng. stressed that complacency has no place in the squad.
“The atmosphere in the team is really good,” Ndidi said. “The confidence from the last game is there, but our focus is now on the next game.”

Ndidi: No room for dwelling on the past
The Leicester City midfielder also addressed comparisons with Nigeria’s previous AFCON campaigns, particularly the 2021 edition, which ended in disappointment for the Super Eagles.
Ndidi made it clear that the current squad is not burdened by past failures and is fully locked in on the present challenge.
“We are not thinking about what happened in 2021. This is 2025,” he said. “We only think about the next game. That is what is important for us.”

Ndidi spoke passionately about the responsibility of representing Nigeria on the continental stage, describing it as a privilege that motivates the players to give their all.
“It is a great honour to play for Nigeria and represent over 200 million people,” he added. “Wearing the green-white-green is a privilege, and every player here wants to give everything for the team.”

Focus firmly on the Uganda clash
With Nigeria already through to the next round, Ndidi dismissed any talk of looking too far ahead, insisting that the team’s mindset remains fixed on the immediate task.
“We are not thinking about the next round yet,” the captain said. “The focus is the next game, and that is what the team is doing right now.”

Nigeria face Uganda in their final group match as the Super Eagles aim to maintain momentum and carry confidence into the knockout stages.
