“I do not understand”- Ex-Super Eagles striker’s honest take on Emmanuel Dennis’ transfer debacle

Emmanuel Dennis parted ways with Nottingham Forest in August, but he hasn't joined another club since then…

Former Super Eagles striker Gambo Mohammed has expressed confusion at Emmanuel Dennis' inability to get a new club, nearly two months after parting ways with Nottingham Forest, Soccernet.ng reports.

After three tough years with the Tricky Trees that saw him relegated to being a peripheral player, Dennis left the club via a mutual termination of contract on August 31.

Being an unattached player freed him up to join any club of his choice, even outside the transfer window.

However, since then, the Super Eagles star has not signed for another club. He was heavily-linked with Celtic at first, but the deal did not happen. There were also speculations about interest from the Italian Serie A, but it did not materialize.

Then, two weeks ago, Soccernet.ng reported about a possible move to Watford. Cypriot club Pafos were also said to be in the mix.

But things have gone silent since then, as Dennis has still not gotten a move yet and is still unattached.

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles striker Gambo, who had four caps for the national team, has expressed confusion over the situation.

The former Kano Pillars man believes Dennis has too much quality to be unattached, two months after leaving Nottingham Forest.

“I really do not understand why he is not playing first-team football or with a club at the moment because he is a very good player,” Gambo told Footy-Africa.

“There has to be something wrong somewhere or something I am not aware of. A talented player like that should be scoring goals and providing assists.

”Is it a discipline problem? Is it motivation? I really do not understand it, and I wish I had the answers.

“His style of play is one that many clubs would want, but for some reason, he is still not playing. I heard Watford wanted to sign him, but later changed their minds. I hope he can get a club soon as a free agent,”

When Will Emmanuel Dennis Get A New Club?

A player with Emmanuel Dennis' quality would definitely have multiple offers from several clubs. But it might be difficult to get a club in the top five leagues, especially as he flopped in multiple loan deals at Istanbul Basaksehir, Blackburn Rovers, and Watford.

Money could be a very big issue for him too. His value has dropped significantly over the last three years, and he can't command as much money as before.

The Super Eagles forward might be looking for an offer that is close to what he used to earn at Nottingham Forest and that might be a bit difficult.

Dennis is just 27 years old and really should be performing at his peak right now. He will be looking to sort out his transfer situation and return to football as soon as possible.
